How to spectate players and see their screen on FiveM

Published 19 July 2026 - Pedro García, FiveMonitor

Players get reported and staff need to see what really happened. This guide compares every real way to watch a player on your FiveM server: free in-game spectate scripts, screenshot scripts that post to Discord, and live video of the player screen from a web panel, with honest prices and limits for each.

What can a FiveM spectate script actually show you?

A FiveM spectate script lets an admin attach a free camera to another player and follow them around the map in real time. It works by moving your own client's camera to the target player's position, so you see the world around them: their character, their vehicle, the people they interact with. What it cannot do is show you the player's actual screen. Their HUD, their chat, any cheat menu, external overlay or third-party program they have open renders only on their own PC, so an in-world camera never sees it. That distinction matters for moderation: spectating is enough to confirm in-game behaviour like RDM or exploiting a map hole, but if you need to see what a player really sees, you need screen capture, either as still screenshots or as live video.

How do free FiveM spectate scripts like fl_spectate work?

Free spectate scripts such as fl_spectate and RAGE_SpectateMenu, both available on GitHub, add an admin-only spectate mode directly inside the game. You open a menu or run a command, pick a player from the list, and your camera teleports to them and follows them wherever they go. Because everything happens on your own client, there is no web access and no video recording: you have to be connected to the server, in-game, for as long as you want to watch. For many small servers this is perfectly fine. The scripts are free, quick to install as a normal resource, and good enough to check a report while you are already online. The limits appear when your staff team wants to review a player without joining, watch several suspects at once, or keep evidence of what happened.

If you were searching for a cam script for FiveM, these two free options are the usual picks:

  • fl_spectate - free spectate cam script on GitHub, admin-only, used from inside the game.
  • RAGE_SpectateMenu - free spectate menu on GitHub, also admin-only and in-game.
  • Neither offers web access or video recording, and neither shows the player's real screen, HUD or menus.

Can a FiveM screenshot script show a player's screen?

Yes, partially: a FiveM screenshot script like screenshot-basic can capture what a player's game is rendering and send the image to a Discord webhook, and it is the closest free option to actually seeing a player's screen. Many servers wire it to a command so staff can request a capture of any connected player and receive it in a private Discord channel within seconds. The catch is that you only get still images, one frame at a time, with no context about what happened before or after the capture. A player using a toggleable cheat menu simply closes it, and your screenshot shows nothing unusual. Screenshots work well as an occasional spot check or as an extra piece of evidence, but they are not a way to watch a player screen continuously while a situation unfolds.

Use a FiveM screenshot script when:

  • You want free, occasional visual checks without adding another panel.
  • A single still image is enough evidence for your ban workflow.
  • Your staff already lives in Discord and a webhook channel fits the flow.

How can you see a player's screen live from the web?

FiveMonitor streams live video of every player's screen to a web panel at app.fivemonitor.com, so you can watch any player in real time from a browser without joining the server. Capture runs on the player's client and streams directly to the panel: server FPS impact is 0%, the server itself handles 0 bytes of video traffic, and idle upload is around 1 KB/s per player, with quality and bandwidth configurable. A multi-player monitor view lets you watch several players at once, which is useful during an active report. To be clear about what it is: FiveMonitor is a monitoring and moderation panel, not an anticheat. It does not detect cheats or ban anyone; it gives your staff eyes, and it works alongside whatever anticheat you already run.

  • 0% server FPS impact: capture and streaming run on each player's client, and the server handles 0 bytes of video traffic.
  • Low bandwidth: idle upload is about 1 KB/s per player, with quality and bandwidth limits you can configure.
  • Multi-player monitor: watch player screens side by side instead of one at a time.
  • Built for staff teams: sub-users log in with their own Discord accounts, and the API key supports IP restriction.

In short: if you want to watch player screens without being in-game, this is the layer the free scripts cannot cover. See the full breakdown on the features page, or follow the step-by-step live player monitoring guide to set it up. FiveMonitor also tracks hours per player - see the playtime tracking guide.

Which option should you use for moderation?

It depends on how your staff actually moderates. If your admins are online most of the time and reports are rare, a free FiveM spectate script covers the basics: join, spectate, decide. If you mostly need occasional proof for a ban appeal, a screenshot script sending captures to Discord may be all you require, and both options cost nothing. Live screen viewing earns its price when moderation happens off-server: reviewing a report hours later without joining, watching a suspected cheater's real screen while they play, checking several players at once during an event, or gathering solid evidence before a ban so appeals do not turn into arguments. Teams with sub-user staff accounts also avoid sharing one admin login. Start with the free tools; move to a panel when being in-game for every report stops scaling.

  • Free spectate script (fl_spectate, RAGE_SpectateMenu): admins are usually in-game, you only need to confirm in-world behaviour, and the budget is zero.
  • Screenshot script (screenshot-basic to Discord): you want occasional visual proof without paying anything, and stills are enough.
  • FiveMonitor: staff moderate from outside the game, you handle regular cheating reports, or you want live video evidence before every ban.

How much does it cost to watch player screens in FiveM?

Free covers the basics: fl_spectate, RAGE_SpectateMenu and screenshot-basic cost nothing, and txAdmin, the standard panel that ships with FXServer, is also free, although it offers no video or screen viewing. FiveMonitor starts at 9.99 EUR per month for the Basic plan, with Pro at 15.99 EUR per month for unlimited players and Pro Annual at 149.99 EUR per year, prices as of July 2026, with a 7-day free trial that requires no card, Stripe payment and cancellation at any time. Most other tools that include live screen viewing bundle it inside a full anticheat and price accordingly: as listed on their own sites in July 2026, FiveGuard is around 45 EUR per month, FiniAC runs 34.99 to 49.99 EUR per month, WaveShield charges 49.99 EUR per month and Electron about 59.99 US dollars per month.

As listed on the vendors' own sites in July 2026:

  • txAdmin - free, ships with FXServer: player management, playtime, bans and restarts, but no screen viewing.
  • FiveGuard - about 45 EUR/month or 100-125 EUR lifetime, with live "Watch Screen Of Players".
  • Electron AC - about $59.99/month, $149/year or $199-229 lifetime, watching multiple screens plus session replay; it markets itself as the "#1 FiveM Anticheat" (their claim).
  • WaveShield - 49.99 EUR/month or 250 EUR lifetime, multi-stream panel with DVR recording; it claims "99.9% detection" and "15,000+ servers" (their claims).
  • FiniAC - 34.99 to 49.99 EUR/month, subscription only; its MultiStream shows 16 simultaneous player screens with voice audio.
  • Raven AC - $17.99/month or $149.99 lifetime, live view with a screenshot and runtime trace attached to every ban.
  • Reaper AC - $25/month, advertising "monitor unlimited players simultaneously".
  • Pegasus AC - around 16 EUR/month, AI screen detection based on screenshots.
  • FireAC - free and open source on GitHub, in-game menu only, no web panel.

Full FiveMonitor plan details are on the pricing page. Unlike the anticheats above, FiveMonitor only does monitoring: pair it with any anticheat you like, or with none at all.
