Cfx Portal: where your FiveM license key lives now Keymaster is gone

Short answer: your FiveM server license key now lives atportal.cfx.re, tied to your Cfx.re account. Creating one takes a single field, a display name, and no server IP. The key still goes intoserver.cfg as sv_licenseKey, exactly as before. If your server is running today, the key you already have keeps working; you only need Portal to see it, rotate it or make a new one.

What happened to Keymaster, and when

This was a staged retirement, not a single switch, which is why guides written at different points contradict each other. The dates that matter:

• 2 December 2024 — Cfx.re announces Portal and states that Keymaster "will be gradually deprecated as part of this rollout".
• 15 October 2025 — the Assets and Grants pages inside Keymaster are deprecated. Cfx.re's own announcement says all future FiveM and RedM asset management should take place in Portal, and that the deprecated pages are replaced with direct links to their Portal equivalents. Both services were down for maintenance between 14:00 and 16:00 UTC that day.
• 1 December 2025 — the deadline to move Patreon-based Element Club subscriptions off Patreon and into Portal.

One honest caveat: the official announcement covers what moved and by when, but it does not spell out what happens to a license key that was never touched again. In practice existing keys continue to authenticate; treat anything stronger than that as someone's guess, including ours.

Where each thing moved

• Server license keys — created and listed in Portal, bound to your Cfx.re account rather than to a server IP.
• Granted assets — the things you were given access to, previously under Keymaster's Assets and Grants pages, are now managed in Portal.
• Element Club — billed through Portal instead of Patreon.

How to create a server license key in Portal

1. Sign in at portal.cfx.re with the Cfx.re account that owns the server. If you have more than one account, this is the step people get wrong: a key made on the wrong account is invisible from the right one.
2. Create a new server key. You are asked for a display name and nothing else — no IP address, which is the main difference from the old flow.
3. Copy the key into server.cfg as sv_licenseKey yourkeyhere.
4. Restart the server and watch the console. A rejected key fails at startup, not later.

Do I have to migrate anything by hand?

For most server owners, no. If your server boots and players connect, your key is fine and Portal is simply where you go to look at it. The migration work is real for two groups: anyone who was paying for Element Club through Patreon and never moved it, and anyone whose workflow depended on the Assets or Grants pages, which no longer exist where they used to.

Common problems after the move

• The key is not in the list. Almost always the wrong Cfx.re account. Check which one you are signed in as before creating a replacement.
• Old bookmarks and guides. Links to Keymaster pages now redirect to their Portal equivalents, so a tutorial that walks you through Keymaster screenshots is describing a UI that no longer exists.
• Creating a second key "just in case". Keys are cheap to make, but running two servers on one key is what actually gets a key blocked. One key per server.
